Green the Festival online donations
As Canada’s largest illumination festival, the Winter Festival of Lights has partnered with LivClean Carbon Offset Solutions to make this year’s event carbon neutral. As a top ranked provider of carbon offsets and sustainable solutions, LivClean helps businesses measure their carbon emissions as well as identify and fund reduction strategies to balance off their environmental impact through carbon offsetting.
By purchasing carbon offsets in support of emission-reducing projects across the country such as renewable energy, sustainable farming, energy efficiency, composting and recycling, the Winter Festival of Lights will be completely ‘carbon neutral’. This initiative will eliminate the Festival’s current carbon footprint of 48 tonnes.
By making a Green the Festival donation, you will be helping the Winter Festival of Lights purchase up to a further 400 plus carbon offsets which could feasibly remove the equivalent emissions of nearly all the vehicles that drive through the Festival’s Winter Wonderland illumination area located along the Niagara Parkway. A portion of your Green the Festival donation will also support the Festival’s local efforts at energy efficiency, conservation and recycling.
Over the past several years, the Festival has made a concerted effort to utilize LED technology for new lighting initiatives and to convert its existing illuminations. This has greatly reduced the Festival’s energy consumption as LED lights use 90% less energy than traditional, incandescent lighting. Additionally, the Festival uses only compostable and biodegradable products such as plates and cutlery for its event and volunteer food requirements.
Regardless of the time spent in Niagara Falls, we recognize visitors to the Winter Festival of Lights are concerned about their environmental impact when travelling. The Festival shares your concerns and is doing its part to make your visit to Niagara Falls a little greener.
